WE WERE ACCOUNTABLE, SO WE STARTED THIS JOURNEY

Updated: Mar 17

Capable are accountable for the helpless and incapable, This is true for animals as well as all aspects of human life. if capable do not commit to help incapable then helpless are bound to get wounded and suffer. we held ourselves accountable and asked peers and friends to understand this accountability and started this journey to raise funds and resources and expertise and volunteers to address animal food insecurities in the city of Aurangabad. Animal food insecurity is a fundamental issue that everyone is capable to relate. We have around 50000 to 100000 stray animals including dogs and cats in Aurangabad and lakhs of them are in cities like Pune and Mumbai. All of them are struggling for food and water and have their own ecosystem of problems which needs our attention. We need to start somewhere as a community together and identify with their problems and give them little enough attention so they do not suffer the wounds of our ignorance and lack of attention. We need to accept the responsibility so that incapable can depend on us. We chose to address hunger and food insecurity of animals as it is easier for people to identify with this issue and people can come together in order to address this issue. an attentive community can address all sorts of problems and enable all required operations and hence this is more about people coming together and giving attention to these homeless animals. Hunger is the bait we are using to organize such a community willing to identify and address problems of homeless animals. We ask people to join hands and come together and make sure we feed all stray animals in the city of Aurangabad. Meanwhile we are setting up teams in the city of Pune and Mumbai to establish resources and logistics to help the homeless animals. We all can do that by :

1. contributing monthly commitment of a financial sum of ₹100 / ₹500 / ₹1000 / ₹2000 / ₹3000 / ₹4000 / ₹5000 /₹10000 / any sum that one can monthly commit. Monthly commitments are necessary and we advice the same to develop stable operations. Once operations are developed using these monthly commitments - then we can use of one time contributions gathered from the donors for various expenses. Please note that we do accept monthly as well as one time contributions. but cost of operations is such that we have to gather certain monthly commitments from people and that is why we ask for such commitments.

2. contributing dog food and cat food which can be used to feed them. we advice monthly commitments to create certain security but we do welcome and accept one time contributions.

3. promoting the cause and asking people to join this journey of responsibility.

4. convincing restaurant owners to give us the food waste which is edible for the animals. we already have created a network of 20 restaurants contributing 500KG of non veg food produces. we are continuously trying to raise food products from all possible avenues. we even have raised around four thousand rotis from more than two thousand households households and additions are happening everyday

We have installed more than 250 water jars across various locations, for providing drinking water to stray animals.

Many people asked us if we are going to develop shelters and rescue animals and put them for adoption or rehabilitation. We want all of them to understand the cost of such operations is huge and hence we have started this journey to raise funds and resources to do that. We have developed two shelters in Aurangabad which are home for around 100 animals. Developing such shelters for large number of animals is expensive and requires large scale human resources. We established these two shelters out of the need for emergency situations and slowly it became a home for all these animals. people have to understand that the economics of shelters requires five to six times more operational cost compared to feeding animals. hence we need to focus our resources and funds on addressing food insecurity at large to reach more and more animals. Right now - our shelters remain home for around 100 stray animals including dogs and cats and we want to grow them and rescue all needy animals. But we need to gather economic resources to handle such operations. We have gathered land use commitments from various people. What we need to organize is financial commitments to develop and run the shelters. but first we need to start somewhere and address the hunger and food insecurity among homeless animals.

Once we have enough financial commitment to handle both hunger and shelter for these homeless animals in need - then we can focus on growing our shelter operations. Until then we are choosing to focus on animal food insecurity at large. We ask people to come forward and join hands to help us feed the stray animals.
